Pelaverga

Pelaverga is a rare grape indigenous to the Piedmont region in Italy.
Two DOCs produce wines from Pelaverga: Colline Saluzzesi DOC and Pelaverga Verduno DOC.

The former is in the Saluzzo hills in the province of Cuneo, while the latter covers the town of Verduno and extends to parts of neighbouring Roddi and La Morra.

Pelaverga grapes are bluey-purple in colour and can have a lot of bloom on the skins. The bunches are fairly large although the berries themselves are relatively small.

How does it taste?

The wines made from Pelaverga are light in colour but can have good intensity of flavour. They are notable for their fragrant character and good acidity.
